New Yorkers! Come on out June 1-3 to the University Settlement to see a workshop production of The Nerve Tank's Project Woyzeck. In it, you can catch me as Woyzeck and The Pianist. What pianist? Come find out. I'm extremely proud of this collaboration and thrilled to be a part of this phenomenal group of artists. I'd love to see you there! Here's The Nerves' blurb on the piece:

"The Nerve Tank returns to The Performance Project with Project Woyzeck, a three-part performance piece using streamed video and original music to interrogate concepts of authority, personhood, and programmed behavior. Inspired by the plays Woyzeck by Georg Buchner and Kaspar by Peter Handke, the show spotlights the human desire to succeed even under the most impossible and contradictory circumstances. It also creates mirrored entry points for audiences to engage with questions of emotional truth and mediation, as our "project person" (Woyzeck) tests his autonomy against the demands of the established social order."

Next week I'll be joining Sister Sylvester for their upcoming production of DEAD BEHIND THESE EYES: A KARAOKE PLAY. Here's the info from the Sister's website:

'Dead Behind These Eyes' is a performance in a karaoke room about pop music, love, and apathy. Three characters rail against the world, and mourn the big, bold important lives they were supposed to live, drowning their sorrows in booze, song, sex, and cigarettes. Using text inspired by John Osborn’s iconic play of dissatisfied youth, 'Look back In Anger', alongside lyrics from Britney Spears, Jeff Buckley, Prince and others, this piece explores political and social participation through the microcosm of the karaoke parlor.

‘Dead Behind These Eyes’ is a co-production with Abrons Art Center.It was performed in a workshop showing at Dixon Place in 2012, and again at Grace Exhibition Space later that year. Sing Sing karaoke hosted a two week workshop of the piece in April 2014 with an open rehearsal/ showing at the end of that time.

We run August 29-September 19th in Room 14 at Sing Sing Karaoke Bar, 81 Avenue A, between 5th and 6th Streets.

I am very excited to be joining The Nerve Tank for their upcoming production of their newest creation, The Maiden, which will be performed at LaMaMa March 28 - April 13. Here's the show blurb, courtesy of the Nerves:

"Persephone takes a dive. Hades drops some knowledge. Join The Nerve Tank and composer Admiral Grey for a contemporary reboot of the abduction myth. The Maiden explores questions of power and showmanship in the context of a trailer park nightclub, blending found text, choreographed movement, and live music to rip into a kidnapped psyche."
